May 2026. Almost 130 years ago, a farmer from Kansas moved to Oklahoma and then to California, finding work on the railroads of the Far West. His name was Warren Bechtel, and in 1898 he founded an engineering and construction company in San Francisco that, in the years that followed, would make history in his country and around the world: it participated in the iconic Hoover Dam, was among the firms that built the Eurotunnel, as well as the industrial city of Jubail and the Kingdom Centre in Saudi Arabia, in addition to Hong Kong International Airport.

The Chilean arm of that company has just partnered with Echeverría Izquierdo Montajes Industriales S.A. (Eimisa), a local star in the sector, “to support the execution of select large-scale mining and infrastructure projects in Chile and across South America,” both companies explained.

The new partners stated that “as mining investment accelerates across the region, clients are placing greater emphasis on how complex projects are executed, seeking efficient delivery while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.”

Under the agreement, Bechtel and Eimisa will work together on projects where their capabilities are most complementary, combining Bechtel’s experience in engineering, procurement, and project execution with the proven track record of Echeverría Izquierdo’s subsidiary in direct-hire construction in Chile.

“Delivering complex large-scale projects requires more than capability: it requires the right model,” said Lucy Martin, President of Bechtel’s Mining and Metals business. “This collaboration reflects a deliberate focus on execution, combining our end-to-end delivery capability with Eimisa’s strong construction presence in Chile to strengthen the way we deliver across the region.”
