Corporate Information
Echeverría Izquierdo traces its origins to October 1978. Fernando Echeverría Vial, Álvaro Izquierdo Wachholtz, and Francisco Silva Johnson founded a construction company to carry out small remodeling projects, home repairs, swimming pool construction, tennis courts, and other minor works.
During the 1980s, following the severe crisis that affected the country, the company began executing high-rise building projects, specializing in reinforced concrete techniques. Echeverría Izquierdo differentiated itself from competitors by establishing a distinctive identity. In 1987, Bernardo Echeverría Vial joined as a partner after the departure of Francisco Silva.
In 1988, VSL Sistemas Especiales de Construcción was founded, representing VSL International and becoming its subsidiary in 1995. VSL achieved undisputed leadership in post-tensioned slabs, retaining walls, and related engineering. Today, it operates in both Chile and Argentina.
In 1989, the company entered the specialized foundations market. Pilotes S.A. was created, successfully introducing new technologies to the market. In 1998, Pilotes Terratest was established.
In the following years, larger-scale projects were developed, including office buildings, residential developments, and commercial and service centers in downtown Santiago and the El Golf district.
In 1996, the construction company adopted the name Echeverría Izquierdo Ingeniería y Construcción. That same year, Echeverría Izquierdo Inmobiliaria e Inversiones was created to manage real estate projects. In subsequent years, this division developed residential projects in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago, downtown Concepción, and some in the V Region of the country.
In 1998, Echeverría Izquierdo Montajes Industriales was established, with Darío Barros Ramírez joining as a partner. The company gained a strong presence in industrial assembly and infrastructure construction markets. Today, Echeverría Izquierdo is a key player in the mining, energy, petrochemical, and pulp sectors. In recent years, it has also entered the concessions sector, particularly developing underground parking projects.
In 2007, Echeverría Izquierdo S.A. was created as the holding company’s parent entity.
In 2011, Echeverría Izquierdo S.A. absorbed 100% of the shares of Echeverría Izquierdo Montajes Industriales, with Darío Barros joining as a partner in the holding. That same year, Echeverría Izquierdo Perú was established to develop industrial assembly, construction, and real estate businesses in Peru.
In August 2012, the company went public, raising USD 88 million for 25% of its ownership.
The expansion process showed results in 2013, as all Echeverría Izquierdo subsidiaries achieved presence in Peru for the first time.
That same year, the company acquired 100% of Pilotes Terratest Chile and Peru, strengthening the Engineering and Construction division. It also acquired 51% of Nexxo S.A., a company specialized in industrial maintenance and chemical cleaning, expanding its industrial service portfolio.
In 2017, Pablo Ivelic assumed the role of Corporate General Manager, and in 2018 the company increased its stake in Nexxo S.A. to 72%. By 2026, ownership reached 100%.
